Planning to Study in the UK?
Despite the challenges, studying in the United Kingdom is a once in a lifetime experience. Moving abroad is not an easy thing, and studying always implies sacrifice and commitment from the students to succeed. Certain things must be done in advance, from applying for courses and booking accommodation through to getting visas and taking care of the legal paperwork. It’s very important to guarantee that your basic needs are covered and to avoid or minimise risks, especially when it comes to healthcare. Not all foreigners get equal treatment in the UK when it comes to things like free access to healthcare. It’s therefore recommended that students to plan ahead to ensure they are not left in a situation where they have no means to pay for their health costs should the unexpected occur. As a London based company, HCI has all the information and resources to help students ensure they are adequately covered for unexpected costs. We can’t guarantee your safety, but we can take care of many of the financial risks associated with foreign study, including medical costs, loss or damage to property and even covering tuition fees should a student need to leave the UK unexpectedly.
One of the fundamental requirements for foreign students is to get an international student health insurance. Because you can never know when an unexpected illness may occur, having a student medical insurance in place is a must for foreigners studying in the UK. Becoming ill is one risk, but accidents could be also happen to students anytime; living abroad always involves a degree of risk. You would probably not think of holidaying in another country without travel insurance, so why risk living and studying abroad without student insurance to cover these unexpected costs? Insurance for students is the perfect tool to safeguard your security in the UK as a student and to help ensure a fulfilling and worry-free studying experience. Many global students have restricted access to free public healthcare, depending on their nationality and private healthcare is costly. Students who have spent thousands of dollars to enrol in their course of study in the UK are well advised to spend a little more to ensure they are covered by an adequate insurance policy so that in the event of an unexpected event, they are able to get the treatment they need and to continue with their studies.
Customised Insurance for Students
Don’t let an unexpected event become a crisis. HCI provides a fully customised international student insurance. Our policy is not just a student health insurance offering medical coverage, but it also covers a range of other risks while you are living in the UK as a student. HCI student cover includes hospitalisation, doctor appointments, private healthcare and further medical service plus passport losses, return home benefits, damaged or stolen property and cover for non-refundable student fees. You can buy cover for whatever period you require, from a month to a year – or several years. And if you have a partner or children staying with you while you are in the UK, our policies can be extended to include them as well.
International students coming to study in the United Kingdom have unique needs when it comes to insurance. Apart from the risks of an unexpected medical emergency or having property lost, damaged or stolen there is the risk of damage to property or the loss of fees if a course needs to be abandoned due to an emergency back home. Our student insurance policy covers all of these risks, including student accommodation insurance (in case a property the student is living in is accidentally damaged) and cover for non-refundable student fees in the event of a premature withdrawal from a course of study due to an unforeseen emergency.
International students undertaking a course of study in the United Kingdom should ensure that they have access to immediate and first class medical care in the advent of an unexpected medical emergency. A key feature of our Global Student Policy is student medical insurance which allows students to seek immediate care when they need it. This care may be available through the NHS, but it may be that the best and quickest service is available in the private health system. And because we recognise that students are here to study, we will attempt to treat them locally rather than seeking to automatically repatriate them back to their home country for care. Our aim is always to deal with the medical problem and allow them to resume their studies as quickly as possible.
Global students studying in the United Kingdom often live in property that is not their own – it may be accommodation owned by the learning institute, but it could be a house share with other students or a property they have rented for themselves. Whatever the situation, it is advisable to ensure that your student insurance policy covers damage you may accidentally cause to other people’s property while living in the UK. Our Global Student Policy not only covers all the standard risks you would expect, from travel delay to unexpected medical emergencies through to lost student fees and lost and stolen property. But because it is a specialist student policy, it also covers the student’s liability for damage to other people’s property. It’s a comprehensive plan designed to allow students to get on with their studies while we take care of the problems that can arise while living away from home.
